Chicago, Ill. – The Robert Morris Women’s Volleyball knocked off Illinois Tech in straight sets on Thursday, September 6th in CCAC Conference action. The Eagles remain unbeaten in CCAC play with a record of 2-0 and raised their overall record to 3-7.
Illinois Tech scored the first point of the first set, but that would be the only lead they would hold as the Eagles came back with three unanswered points to take the lead and eventually win 25-23.
The second set began similarly with Illinois Tech jumping ahead 2-0. However, once again RMU came right back and opened a 13-5 lead. The Scarlett Hawks closed the gap to within two points late in the set but the Eagles closed it out for a 25-22 win.
With their backs against the wall, Illinois Tech would not fall quietly and opened a 9-5 lead in the third set. The Eagles came right back to take a 15-14 lead and fought of the Scarlett Hawks for a 25-21 set victory and a 3-0 match sweep.
Kory Honel led the Eagles with eight kills and 14 digs while Myranda Cate led the team with 15 assists.
The Eagles continue CCAC Conference action on Tuesday, September 11th as they travel to Elgin, Illinois to take on Judson University. Match time is set for 7:00 P.M. and it can be heard live on the Eagles Sports Network.
