Lake Wales, Fla. – The Robert Morris Women’s Soccer team defeated Warner University (Fla.) 4-1 on Thursday, September 13th for their second victory in a row.  With the win, the Eagles raised their record to 2-4 on the season.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game when Cindi Chavez headed home a Joanne Gracia corner kick.  The goal was Chavez’ first of the 2012 campaign.  RMU controlled play for the remainder of the half and took a 2-0 lead on another head ball goal as Florence Dadson hammered the ball in from a Brooklyn Kerlin cross.

Dadson added two more goals in the second half to complete the hat trick.  In the 71st minute, she scored a breakaway goal from a ball played over the top of the Warner back line by Linda Eshun and added the third in the 87th minute from an almost identical ball over the top from Shannon Bennett.  Warner was able to break up the RMU shut-out bid in between Dadson’s second half goals with a goal of their own in the 73rd minute.

Darby Bennett earned the victory in goal for the Eagles.

“We didn’t play our best game tonight but we worked hard and pulled out a decisive victory,” stated Eagles Head Coach Kurt Melcher.  “There are going to be games like tonight and I’m happy to see our team was able to get the result that we needed.”
