Women’s Cross Country Begins 2012 Season with a 7th Place Finish at Spartan Invitational

Aurora, Ill. – The Robert Morris Women’s Cross Country team opened up the 2012 season with a solid seventh place finish out of 13 teams at the Aurora University Spartan Invitational on Friday, September 7th.  The race was a 6,000 meter distance.

Yarisel Mata led the Eagles with a 36th place finish out of 143 runners with a time of 25:28.  Idalis Valdivia was the next RMU to cross the finish line in 50th place with a time of 26:32.  Other RMU finishers were Jilian Hendzlick (76th/27:35), Rachel Day (96th/28:48), Kiersten Norgard (99th/28:56), Michelle Steinwart (111th/29:53), and Virginia Garcia (124th/31:18).

The Eagles will compete in the Illinois Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Illinois State University on Friday, September 14th.  The race will begin at 5:00 P.M. at Weibring Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.
