Addison, Ill. – The Robert Morris Bowling program hosted its 7th Annual Roto Grip Eagles Baker Challenge on Saturday, January 12th and Sunday, January 13th and the top ranked RMU Men’s and Women’s Bowling teams both took first place after 40 games of Baker qualifying.
The men’s bracket was comprised of 33 teams and 264 bowlers and the Eagles first place qualifying finish was their 11th win of the season out of 11 tournaments competed in. McKendree University finished in second with Davenport University (Mich.) in third place and Wisconsin-Whitewater coming in fourth. On Sunday in the Match Play portion of the tournament, Mount Mercy University (Iowa) took home the trophy.
On the women’s side, the tournament was made up of 28 teams and 224 bowlers and the Eagles picked up their fifth win of the season. Ashford University (Iowa) finished in second with Robert Morris-Peoria in third place and William Penn University (Iowa) in fourth. William Penn went on to win the Match Play trophy on Sunday afternoon.
The Robert Morris-Peoria men’s team finished in 21st, Robert Morris-Springfield women took 17th, and Robert Morris-Lake County women came in 19th. In Junior Varsity Match Play, Robert Morris II defeated Robert Morris I on the men’s side and same result occurred on the women’s side.
Next up for the Eagles is the Blue & Gold Classic hosted by Notre Dame University on Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th. The event will be held at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend, Indiana.
