Oxford, Ohio – The Robert Morris Women’s Hockey team swept Miami University (Ohio) this past weekend, defeating the Redhawks 7-0 on Friday, November 2nd and 4-0 on Saturday, November 3rd.  The Eagles raised their record to 10-0-0 on the season with the wins.

The Eagles had a tough task ahead of them as Miami entered the weekend series with a 7-0-1 record and were the highest scoring team in ACHA to date.  However, the RMU defense stymied the Redhawks offense in both games.  Junior captain Jessica Merritt had a five-point game in Friday’s win, registering two goals and three assists.  Linemates Chelsea Kasprick recorded another hat trick and Jen Wilson chipped in with a goal and assist.  Goaltender Staci Pomering stopped all 17 shots she faced to earn the shut-out.

Saturday’s game was almost a blue print of Friday’s win with the offense coming from several players and across all three lines.  Jen Wilson scored two goals and Jordyn Tremain and Mollie Madden had a goal each.  Jessica Merritt, Lucia Plyer, Madi Biluk, and Chelsea Kasprick each had two assists while goaltender Staci Pomering made 22 saves to record her second shut-out in as many nights.

Robert Morris will play three games in the ACHA Showcase at The Edge in Bensenville on November 9th, 10th, and 11th.  The Eagles face off against Colorado State on Friday at 4:20 P.M., the University of Vermont on Saturday at 4:30 P.M., and the University of Wisconsin on Sunday at 2:50 P.M.
