Chicago, Ill. – The Robert Morris Performing Arts group performed their 2012 Holiday Concert on Monday, December 10th at the Harold Washington Library in downtown Chicago. The various groups that performed during the concert were the RMU Jazz Band, Mixed Variations Coed Accapella Group, Goldtones Vocal Jazz Choir, and the State Street Singers Choir.
The RMU Jazz Band opened the show with “Linus and Lucy” under the direction of coordinator Patrick Keelan, and closed out their portion of the show with “Silver Bells.”
Mixed Variations, RMU’s coed accapella group, took the stage next and opened with their version of “Every Breath you Take” by the Police. They finished their performance singing “Viva La Vida.”
The Goldtones Vocal Jazz Choir was up next, and opened with “Hold Me Rock Me” and moved into “Go Tell It on the Mountain.” The Goldtones followed up with “At Last” and sang a modern medley version of “Singing In the Rain” and “Umbrella” in their finale.
The State Street Singers Show Choir closed out the show with a combination of song and dance, and opened up with the always festive “Jingle Bell Rock” and moved into “I Feel Better.” The group then performed “Somebody I Used to Know” and moved into a medley of “Waiting for the End” and “Extraterrestial” before closing out the concert with Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory.”
“The students performed with great energy and poise,” stated Performing Arts Coordinator Ken Whitney. “Our turnaround time from performing for home football games was rather brief, rehearsing a full show in five weeks time. I’m proud of the work from all the Performing Arts students, they have so many amazing talents!”
