Chicago, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced that Robert Morris Men’s Cross Country member Mizael Carrera is the CCAC Runner of the Week for the week ending October 21st.
Carrera took first place in the NAIA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, October 20th edging out fellow CCAC runner Phil Rizzo of the University of Saint Francis by 1.61 seconds with a personal best of 24:49.10. That time was only six seconds off the pace of the RMU all-time record despite muddy course conditions.
The meet featured a high-caliber field that featured five NAIA programs ranked among the top 21 in the nation and all 12 CCAC institutions that sponsor the sport. The Eagles placed 16th as a team in the field that included #3 Saint Francis, #6 Shawnee State (Ohio), #10 Aquinas (Mich.), #20 Cornerstone (Mich.), and #221 Indiana Wesleyan.
Carrera’s honor marks the second time this season that he has earned the weekly distinction. The first time came during the week ending September 9th, which was the second week of the season.
