Wroclaw, Poland – Robert Morris Men’s Bowler Marshall Kent finished in second place of the 2012 Qubica AMF Bowling World Cup that ended on Saturday, December 1st as he represented Team USA in the global competition.
The sophomore from Yakima, Washington won both qualifying rounds with an average of 233.35 and 233.61 respectively, and then also advanced to the stepladder finals as the top seed of the competition with another first place finish in the Top Eight with an average of 22.7.47. His top finish in the round of eight gave him a bye into the finals of the of the stepladder championship of the event.
Abdul Malek Syafiq Ridhwan of Malaysia knocked off Andres Gomez of Colombia two to one in the best of three games semi-final to advance on to the championship round against Kent. Gomez kept rolling, defeating Kent 2-0 (236 & 237 to 225 & 221) in the championship match-up to win the tournament title.
Team USA and Malaysia tied for the top country, but the trophy went to Malaysia due to Syafiq’s victory.
