Chicago, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the Men’s Soccer post-season awards and Monroe Bell Jr., Gordy Gurson, and Chisom Ogbonna were named to the CCAC All-Conference 1st team while Milco Risteski earned second team honors.
Junior Gordy Gurson, the 2011 CCAC Player of the Year, makes his second consecutive appearance on the first team after leading the Eagles in scoring with 15 goals and an assist for 31 points. His total goals and goals per game (0.79) were second in the conference while he was third in total points and points per game (1.63).
Defender and captain Monroe Bell Jr. also was selected to the first team after anchoring the RMU defense, which was third in the CCAC in total goals allowed (21) and goals against average (1.07). Bell was a an honorable mention selection during his freshman season in 2009.
Freshman Chisom Ogbonna made a mark during his freshman campaign with a first team selection as well. The Nigerian midfielder had four goals and one assist for nine points this season and his work ethic and pace stood out the entire conference season.
Senior goalkeeper Milco Risteski earned second team honors after posting seven shut-outs and goals against average of 1.02, which are second fourth best in the CCAC respectively. Risteski also earned CCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors three times during the season.
