Milwaukee, Wis. – The Robert Morris Women’s Volleyball team won its fourth CCAC Conference match in a row, defeating Cardinal Stritch University (25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 15-13) on Tuesday, October 30th. The victory raises the Eagles conference record to 9-9 and earns the team its third straight CCAC Conference Tournament appearance for the first time in the program’s history. RMU is now 11-24 overall on the season.
The Eagles stormed out to a 2-0 lead in the match only to have Cardinal Stritch win the third and fourth sets to even things up at 2-2. RMU fell behind the Wolves by four points on two different occasions in the tie breaker but showed their character tying the set up at 11-11. The two teams traded points until Allyson Murray had a kill to put the Eagles up 14-12 and give them match point. The Wolves scored the next point to trail 14-13 but RMU’s Allyson Murray scored again to clinch the 3-2 victory.
RMU had a great team effort as Melissa Joyce, this week’s CCAC Player of the Week, had 18 kills and 20 digs, Kory Honel had 20 kills and 9 digs, Myranda Cate had 61 assists and 17 digs, Alyssa Harkema had 14 kills and 11 digs, Allyson Murray had 12 kills, and Katie Rotkovich had 10 kills.
The Eagles close out the regular season as they host Trinity International University on Thursday, November 1st. Match time is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. at Attack Athletics in Chicago and fans can listen to the match live on the Eagles Sports Network.
