Eagles Take Second Place in Warhawk Open Women’s Bowling Tournament

Sun Prairie, Wis. – The Robert Morris Women’s Bowling team finished in second place of the Warhawk Open this past weekend.  In a field of 27 teams and 183 bowlers, the Eagles finished a mere 11 pins short of the tournament title behind champion Midland University (Neb.) with Viterbo University (Wis.) finishing in third place and William Penn University (Iowa) in fourth place.

With four Baker games to go, the Eagles found themselves 77 pins behind Midland and made a furious comeback to fall just short of the title by 11 pins.

Sophomore Tawni Vollmer finished in fourth place with an average of 212.6 to earn All-Tournament team honors.  Also bowling well was freshman Caerlina Williams finishing in 7th place, grad student Alejandra Mora finishing in 10th place, sophomore Haley Baser finishing in 16th place, and freshman Courtney Johnson finishing in 38th place.

The Gold JV team finished in second place of the JV Division and in sixth place overall, while the Maroon JV team took fourth place in the JV Division and finished in 11th place overall.

The Eagles will take three-week break before their next competition and will compete in the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic on December 27th and 28th and the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic on December 29th and 30th.  Both events will be held in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
