Whiting, Ind. – The Robert Morris Women’s Volleyball team went 2-2 in the CCAC Conference Crossover Tournament on Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th on the campus of Calumet College of St. Joseph. The Eagles are now 4-7 in CCAC play and are 6-21 overall.
The Eagles opened up the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Purdue University Calumet winning 25-9, 25-21, 25-18. Freshman Katie Ratkovich had 15 kills, senior Kory Honel had 14 kills, and junior Myranda Cate had 34 assists in the straight set win.
Unfortunately the Eagles were defeated in the next match 3-0 to the University of Saint Francis falling 15-25, 23-25, 19-25. Rotkovich and Honel once again led the team in kills with 14 a piece while Myranda Cate had 30 assists.
On Saturday, RMU opened the day with another 3-0 win over Calumet College of St. Joseph winning 25-19, 25-17, 25-16. Kory Honel led the Eagles with 14 kills and nine digs while Myranda Cate posted 34 more assists in the match.
Robert Morris fell in the tournament finale 3-1 to Trinity Christian by scores of 18-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-25. Rotkovich led the Eagles with 15 kills and 17 digs while Kory Honel had 11 kills and 17 digs. Myranda Cate chipped in with 37 assists and Christine Ocampo had 17 digs in the loss.
The Eagles continue CCAC Conference play on Tuesday, October 9th as they travel a few miles south on State Street to take on Illinois Tech. The match is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. on the campus of Illinois Tech.
