Kansas City, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2012-2013 NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll and the Eagles open the season ranked #4 in the country.
The Eagles, who received 230 points, are ranked behind top rated Concordia (Calif.), #2 Oklahoma Baptist, and #3 Georgetown (Ky.), while Rogers State (Okla.) rounds out the top five. RMU defeated #1 ranked Concordia 99-92 in overtime last season and advanced to their ninth consecutive NAIA National Tournament where they were upset by unseeded Southern-New Orleans (La.) 94-92 in overtime.
Robert Morris leads the NAIA with 24 No. 1 rankings since 2000 and is the only program to start and end the season ranked #1.
“I am excited for the upcoming season but we have a lot to work on as we have a brand new team that hasn’t played together,” stated Eagles Head Coach Al Bruehl. “This is a talented group on paper but we will need to work hard as a team and a staff to make sure we have the same level on the court. ”
Al Bruehl is one win shy of 500 career victories and will be looking for that historical win in the team’s season opener on Thursday, November 1st against Evangel University (Mo.). Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. at Attack Athletics in Chicago.
