Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Robert Morris Men’s Soccer team’s high flying offense was held in check as the Eagles tied Cornerstone University (Mich.) 0-0 in double overtime on Thursday, August 30th. The Eagles remained unbeaten with a 2-0-1 record on the year.
Jake Truty’s squad came into the game averaging 5.5 goals per game in their two first games of the season but both teams’ defenses rose to the challenge in this game. Eagles goalkeeper Milco Risteski was the man of the match for the Eagles, making seven saves in the game to earn his second shut-out in the young season.
The Eagles were outshot by Cornerstone 20-12 in the game but held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks on the day.
“Today’s performance was disappointing after the way we played in our opening two games the previous weekend,” stated Eagles Head Coach Jake Truty. “On the positive side, Milco (Risteski) played a great game in goal and made some crucial saves when we needed it.”
Robert Morris hits the road to travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on AIB on Thursday, September 6th at 7:00 P.M. The Eagles continue on their road trip as they travel to Lamoni, Iowa to take on Graceland University on Saturday, September 8th with a 7:00 P.M. kick-off as well.
