Chicago, Ill. – The Robert Morris Men’s Soccer team lost to CCAC Conference co-leader Saint Xavier University by a 1-0 score on Tuesday, October 23rd. The loss drops the Eagles conference record to 6-4 and their overall record to 11-4-1 on the season.
The game was a defensive and physical match-up with both teams being limited on scoring chances. The Cougars outshot the Eagles 4-3 in the first half but neither team was able to score in the stanza.
The Eagles held a slight 6-4 shot advantage in the second half but it was Saint Xavier that was finally able to break the deadlock. In the 58th minute, Robert Morris goalkeeper Milco Risteski was whistled for a hand ball violation just outside their own penalty box and Saint Xavier’s Kyle Breitenbach buried the dead ball for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles nearly tied it up late in the game but a Kosta Risteski shot caromed off the crossbar and RMU was unable to find the equalizer.
