Chicago, Ill. – The Robert Morris Men’s Basketball team came up with a big win on Tuesday, January 8th, defeating Campbellsville University (Ky.) by the score of 76-63 at Attack Athletics.  The Eagles avenged a 75-57 loss at Campbellsville earlier this season and raised their season record to 8-10 on the year.

The first eight minutes of the game were a back and forth affair between the two teams, but the Eagles opened up a seven-point lead on a Sean Montgomery lay-up with 9:47 left in the first half.  RMU held this lead until the final minute of the opening stanza, however, the Tigers took a 37-36 lead on two Justin Ennis’ free throws and led 39-38 at the break.

The Eagles opened the second half with a 9-1 run to take a 48-40 lead with 15:22 to play.  Campbellsville was able to get within a point on three occasions and cut the RMU lead to 66-63 with 3:55 left in the game but that is as close as the Tigers would get.  The Eagles went on a 10-0 run in the final minutes to close out the game and win their second straight for the first time this season.

RMU had a strong team effort with four players scoring in double figures.  Kashaune McKinney led the team with 14 points, Aubrey McAlpine and Sean Montgomery both scored 13 points, and Brian Bradley added 10 points in the Eagles’ win.  The Eagles defense held the Tigers to just 1of 14 from behind the arc for a 7.1% three-point shooting percentage and 44.6% overall.

Robert Morris travels down south as they take on Talladega College (Ala.) on Thursday, January 10th at 7:30 P.M. and Life University (Ga.) on Saturday, January 12th at 3:00 P.M.  Fans can listen to both games on the Eagle Sports Network at www.eaglesportsnetwork.com.  The Eagles defeated Talladega 69-56 earlier this season at home.
