South Bend, Ind. – The Robert Morris Women’s Volleyball team defeated all three of their opponents in the CCAC Conference Crossover Tournament, defeating Indiana University-South Bend (25-16, 25-21, 25-19) and Purdue University North Central (25-20, 25-17, 25-15) on Friday, October 26th and Olivet Nazarene University (25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23) on Saturday, October 27th. The Eagles raised their conference record to 8-9 and their overall record to 10-24.
In the Eagles three-set sweep over Indiana University-South Bend, senior Melissa Joyce led the way with a game high 22 kills and 16 digs, while fellow senior Kory Honel had a solid game with eight kills and 11 digs. Junior Myranda Cate chipped in with 36 assists in the victory.
RMU kept the momentum going, sweeping Purdue University North Central in their second match of the day. Kory Honel led the Eagles with a game high 16 kills and Melissa Joyce added 10 kills and 12 digs. Once again, Myranda Cate had a game high 35 assists for RMU.
The Eagles continued their winning streak on Saturday, knocking off Olivet Nazarene 3-1. Melissa Joyce stepped up once again to lead the team with an impressive 24 kills and also had 13 digs. Kory Honel had 13 kills and 16 digs, Myranda Cate had 41 assists and 15 digs, and Megan Tompkins added a team high 17 digs.
The Eagles travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday, October 30th. Match time is 7:00 P.M. and fans can watch or listen live at the link below.
