Chicago, Ill. – The Robert Morris Men’s Basketball team lost to 19th ranked and defending NAIA national champions Concordia University (Calif.) by the score of 93-82 on Thursday, January 3rd at Attack Athletics. The loss dropped the Eagles’ record to 6-10 for the season.
Concordia jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game but the Eagles answered back and took a 10-8 lead with 15:15 left in the first half on a Kashaune McKinney jumper. RMU extended this lead to 14-8 on four straight points from Aubrey McAlpine and held the lead until 7:45 left in the half. Concordia tied the game at 21-21 and regained the lead extending it to as much as ten points before the Eagles closed out the first half down 44-40.
The Eagles fell behind Concordia by nine points to open the second half as RMU’s field goal and free throw shooting let them down. RMU closed to within 68-65 with 5:45 left to play, but that was as close as they would get as Concordia opened up a ten-point lead with 2:19 to go and never looked back winning the game 93-82.
RMU shot just 38.6% from the field and 57.1% from the free throw line hitting only 24-42 free throws in the game. Brian Bradley scored a team high 21 points while Sean Montgomery scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Kashaune McKinney chipped in with 11 points and Ryan Woods scored 10 points in the loss.
The Eagles will have a day’s rest before hosting Wilberforce University at Attack Athletics on Saturday, January 5th. Tip-off is set for 3:00 P.M. and fans can listen to the game live on the Eagle Sports Network.
