Eagles Defeat Saint Xavier 2-0 to Improve to 8-2 in CCAC Conference Women’s Soccer Action

Chicago, Ill. – The Robert Morris Women’s Soccer team defeated Saint Xavier by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday, October 24th in CCAC Conference action.  The Eagles, who are receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Poll, raised their conference record to 8-2 and their overall record to 11-6 on the season.

The Eagles could not take advantage of the wind at their backs in the first half and the game remained scoreless at the break despite the Eagles holding a 9-6 edge in shots.  Both teams had a few close calls and each team had five corner kicks.

The second half belonged to Florence Dadson and the Eagles with Dadson being fouled just outside the Cougars’ penalty box in the 65th minute.  Dadson curled her shot around the Saint Xavier wall and into the far corner for a 1-0 RMU lead.  Dadson gave the Eagles an insurance goal in the 71st minute finishing a breakaway created by Linda Eshun and Carolynn Wieland.  Eshun headed on a RMU goal kick to Carolynn Wieland, who in turn played a great through ball to Dadson for her 21st goal of the year.

RMU goalkeeper Ana Hernandez made four saves to earn her second shut-out of the season.

The Eagles close out the conference regular season on Saturday, October 27th as they travel to Palos Heights, Illinois to take on Trinity Christian College.  Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. at Ridgeland and Route 83 Field and the men’s soccer game will follow at 2:30 P.M.  The Eagles will begin the CCAC Conference Tournament on Saturday, November 3rd as the third seed and their opponent will be determined after Saturday’s games.
