Indianapolis, Ind. – The Robert Morris Men’s and Women’s Bowling teams both brought home championships from the Western Shootout held at the Western Bowl in Indianapolis on Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th.
The Eagles Men’s team won their second tournament of the year over Notre Dame College by a mere 21 pins. The tournament consisted of 37 men’s teams and 245 individual bowlers and the Gold team finished in 7th place and Maroon in 20th place. Sophomores Marshall Kent and Matt Gasn led the Eagles, finishing in second and fifth places respectively and landing spots on the All-Tournament team. Also bowling well were freshman Ryan Zagar (8th), freshman Kyle King (11th), senior Jacob Kent (14th), and freshman Tylor Greene (26th).
In the women’s division, there were 26 teams and 187 individual bowlers competing in the event. The Eagles recorded their first win of the young season over Marian University by 135 pins. Leading the way for RMU was junior Caitlin Hofmann who took second place and was selected to her second consecutive All-Tournament team. Also bowling well were freshman Rachel Vaughn (7th), grad student Alejandra Mora (9th), and sophomore Tawni Vollmer (22nd). The RMU Maroon team finished in 12th place and the Gold team in 13th.
The RMU Bowling teams will travel to Peoria, Illinois to compete in the Kegel/ISBPA Collegiate Classic at Landmark Lanes on Saturday, October 20th and Sunday, October 21st.
